Does Plants Feel Pain When You Cut Them Or Do They Have Any Feelings?

Posted by   on

Plants do not have a central nervous system/brain/heart, so that can not feel pain. However, they show the effects of pain by displaying obvious signs that something is not right they are the following:

  • Wilting or limp for a prolong period of time especially after being watered
  • Dark colored fluid especially at wound sites, this indicates the plant is in stress
  • Conks around the plant may indicate decay
  • thinning canopy
  • Branch and limb droppage
  • Die-back in large patches, the tree is in decline
  • Less production of fruit especially on older trees a sign of a stressful condition
Plants do have their own way to be unhappy or showing stress signs, you can judge the plants pain if they are treated well with correct type of soil, right spot, on time water. If they are looking good without any of the above signs then they are happy.

So What happens When You Cut Them?

Plants use fragrances to signal, so when you cut them you can smell a thing out of it.  So, when you cut even a single leave, they short some amount of energy. since leaves collect carbon dioxide with sunlight energy and a small amount of H20 to form the photosynthetic process of plant. by means of photosynthetic process plants makes food or energy in order to grow faster. Some plants also have what is called ‘totipotency’ meaning that only plants of that type can grow around it.

Why to even think on, if plants feel pain or not. Let’s save trees and save the world for better tomorrow.
